For over 40 decades celebrated photographer Mick Rock has photographed some of the most legendary and notorious names in rock ‘n’ roll, from Ziggy Stardust and David Bowie, to Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, Iggy Pop, Freddie Mercury, Debbie Harry and Lady Gaga. His storied career was chronicled a few years ago in the Vice Media bio documentary Shot! The Psycho-Spritual Mantra of Rock, showing on Netflix turning Rock into a legend in his own right. Bottom line: Mick Rock has seen it all, done it all, and shot them all!
“The living legend isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and we are lucky to be a part of his ongoing story.”
In an interview with AS IF Magazine, the British born photographer discussed what he learned from Bowie, how he went from being an Oxford scholar in literature to becoming the music industry's most sought-after photog, how he ended up in the city that never sleeps, and the origins of his last name— and yes, it’s real!
After 40 years, Rock has solidified himself and one of the most important photographers of a generation, and his work continues and includes the Gucci Cruise 2018 campaign, a recent session with Lenny Kravtiz, and a cover shoot with Benicio Del Toro for AS IF Magazine.
