Symphony of vibrant colors and popping visuals intertwine in unpredictable and delightful ways in David Salle’s recent hit exhibition at Skarstedt Gallery in London, Musicality and Humour. Fortunately, for fans and collectors of Salle’s work, this recent exhibit has been translated into limited-edition dresses, scarfs, and bespoke home furnishings brought to you by TheCollaboratory.
“We knew the opportunity to collaborate with an artist such as David Salle should have a life longer than the run of a magazine issue,” said AS IF editor-in-chief and photographer, Tatijana Shoan. “Through TheCollaboratory, which facilitates and produces creative collaborations with people from varying artistic backgrounds, limited-edition products based on ‘Musicality and Humour’ were produced.”

The first collection created were three styles of limited-edition dresses designed by fashion designer Peter Hidalgo. Hidalgo is an expert patternmaker and master tailor who won the 2010 Rising Star Award from Fashion Group International. He is known for his perfectly tailored silhouettes, use of luxury fabrics, and his impeccable attention to detail. Hidalgo has worked with many celebrities including Kanye West, Usher, and Nicki Minaj, and continues working with private and celebrity clients. Only 40 dresses in each style will be produced, numbered and signed by Salle, and just like his artwork, the dresses are seen as future museum pieces.
The idea of sharing Salle’s work to a broader audience continues with a limited-edition, numbered and authenticated line of silk scarves, oversized and reversible pillows, and bespoke poufs in various sizes. These collectible art objects showcase portions of Salle’s paintings in a perfect expression of the artists’ quintessential style. These superior quality objects are meticulously made with the highest attention to detail. There are four styles of scarves, and three styles of pillows and poufs. Only 100 of each style will be produced to bring remarkable, colorful and fun works of art to any environment. With the current state of the world right now, TheCollaboratory also felt that now was a necessary time also give back. 20% of proceeds will go be going toward organizations that are supporting frontline responders in the time of COVID-19.
